Dear (elected official),
For the last 50 years, girls and women have been protected by Title IX. I urge you to do everything in your power to restore these protections.
An increasing number of biological female high school athletes are being denied scholarships and opportunities in favor of athletes who were born male but are now competing in women’s sports.
One example of this is “Lia” Thomas, the swimmer who was ranked #462 in the male competitions at the University of Pennsylvania and who then beat an Olympic Silver medalist in NCAA Division I women’s competition. Thomas’ presence denied opportunities to female athletes.
The Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel studied “around 20,000 protein-coding genes, sorting them by sex and searching for differences in expression in each tissue. They eventually identified around 6,500 genes with activity that was biased toward one sex or the other in at least one tissue, adding to the already major biological differences between men and women.”
One of the thousands of differences these scientists found was a gene expression for muscle building that is higher in men. This is a biological disadvantage at the cell level for women compared to men.
Women deserve their own arena and opportunities. Please do not allow these protections to be destroyed.
Sincerely,
(Your Name)
