Gov. Northam’s interview churned my stomach. The highest elected official in Virginia sat in a comfortable studio and advocated for letting newborn babies die by withholding medical care after they are born, “if that’s what the mother and the family desired.” He went on to say that if a child was resuscitated after birth that, “then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.”

A discussion about what??? The governor continued on “I think this is really blown out of proportion but again we want the government not to be involved in these types of decisions.” 

The governor had just clearly finished describing the birth process and then advocated that the government “not be involved.” Now think about it. In the room there is a mother who wants her child killed, the doctor who is there to kill the child and a wiggling, helpless, just born baby... and the governor wants our nation’s law to quietly leave the room for them to decide this infant’s future?

In attempting to spin his comments, the Governor released a “clarification” but refused to deny his statements were advocating infanticide. He reiterated that he was only talking about “actions physicians would take in the event that a woman in (difficult circumstances) went into labor.” However, his initial statement was clearly talking about actions that would happen immediately AFTER labor. His clarification doubles down urging that legislators not being involved in these “decisions.” 

The bill also allows for only one doctor to sign off on killing the child instead of three as the current law requires. This bill would allow abortions for the mental and emotional “health” of the mother, which is just code for any reason or no reason at all. 

There are about 9,000 third trimester abortions each year. In the documentary, After Tiller, some doctors admitted that perfectly healthy babies were aborted to increase the financial comfort of his or her mother. 

These abortions are actually more complicated and dangerous to the mother than a normal birth, according to Lifesite News!
