The Maryland legislature is considering a devastating constitutional amendment. Going far beyond Roe v. Wade, it would allow partial birth abortions. It could permit teens to hide birth control and even abortions from their parents. And it could lay the groundwork to legalize pedophilia! - Mat


The proposed amendment claims to focus on abortion, but it is so broad it could have a host of unintended, devastating consequences. Article 48 states:

That the people have the right to bodily integrity and privacy to make personal decisions about childbearing and procreation without unwarranted government intrusion.

Let me explain what this amendment could do in four areas.

First, this amendment does not restrict its impact just to adults. This could give minors, even pre-teens, a loophole to start birth control. Or they could even undergo a surgical abortion without ever informing their parents.

It could create an escape clause for pedophiles. Perpetrators could claim a so-called constitutional "right" to a romantic relationship with a child. If the young girl ended up pregnant, she could have an abortion without her parents ever finding out under this amendment. Her parents could be blinded to both the killing of their grandbaby and the continued child abuse of their young daughter or son!

This amendment reduces or prohibits government oversight on abortion vendors. Inspections on abortion facilities and quality control on birth control could be limited. A former Planned Parenthood director admitted their facility gave out defective birth control. They would pass out defective condoms or birth control pills that must be taken at the same time every day. Their goal was to trick girls into three to five abortions before age 18.

it also removes and prevents restrictions through the conclusion of childbirth. A mother could kill her preborn because she wanted a different gender or different racial qualities. It allows abortions on babies viable outside the womb. It would even allow partial birth abortion! Or it could allow a woman to carry a child to 40 weeks, just to harvest and sell his or her organs!

As gruesome as that is...that is what this amendment could allow. We must stop it! Regardless of where you live, you can have a voice on this issue. Maryland legislators need to hear the whole nation rising up against this proposed amendment!
