HELP--Some Are Waffling

Sep 12, 2022

Key Republican senators are waffling on the HR 8404 abuse-of-marriage bill and are publicly asking for your input!

The so-called “Respect for Marriage Act” will force all 50 states to legally recognize old men and pedophiles who want to “marry” children for their sexual pleasure, incestuous “marriage” and even polygamy.

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said last Wednesday, “let me be clear, a vote will happen. A vote will happen ... “on the Senate floor in the coming weeks.”

THIS bill is a higher priority to Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) than a budget plan to avoid a government shutdown happening at the end of this month! He promised a vote on this bill this month. It could happen at any time. The vote will be extremely close.

Democrats need just six more Republicans to pass this bill. They already have four.

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) is wobbling back and forth. I need your help to hold senators accountable and stop this bill. Rush urgent faxes to the Senate against HR 8404. The Senate is our only chance. — Mat

There are 16 Republican senators who are publicly undecided about this awful bill. One of them is Ron Johnson (R-WI), who is up for election. He was recently interviewed about HR 8404, stating, “I would probably vote for this bill that’s coming up.”

“I always supported civil unions. I thought that would have been the reasonable solution for gay marriage, okay, or gay unions … [Obergefell] will never be overturned … [because] it would disrupt people’s lives. I don’t want to disrupt people’s lives.”

Sen. Johnson said, “I listen to people. And people have expressed some very legitimate concerns about religious liberty. Let’s face it. The left—you give them an inch—they want to take 5,000 miles. And you can just imagine how they’ll push this, and push this, and start initiating lawsuits against religious groups, and religious institutions and religious individuals.”

He admits it is difficult to “figure out all the different permutations based on a law that may or may not protect religious liberty. So again, I actually listen to people. I take religious liberty very seriously,” Sen. Johnson stated.

This is where our team’s work is so important. We can analyze and warn these legislators about the obvious and hidden consequences in bills like HR 8404. And HR 8404 has a huge list of consequences. This is exactly what our staff is doing on Capitol Hill. But one organization’s voice is not enough to stop this bill. The senators need to hear from YOU.

Rush your urgent faxes to as many senators as possible to block HR 8404.

As the saying goes … the devil is in the details, and I’ll explain why.

Sens. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) and Susan Collins (R-ME) are working in tandem to secure more Republican votes. They now admit what we’ve been saying: HR 8404 will open the door to polygamy. They attribute this to a “drafting error,” but it was no error. The drafters of the bill knew what they were doing.

To get the votes of senators like Ron Johnson, they will also propose a religious accommodation. Now, I don’t think their radical special interest groups will go for this, and if proposed, it may fracture the Democrats.

Now is a key moment to contact the senators because this negotiation process can make or break the bill.

This is when senators can create excuses to vote against a bill. They can be hard negotiators so that no mutual agreement is reached, thus a bill dies. They can even set up talking points to help their campaigns mitigate damage from the way they plan to vote … if they want to.

OR they can vote in favor of the bill at the last minute. Think Joe Manchin (D-WV) on the massive climate spending bill!

Democrats need just 10 Republicans, and they already have four, with many who haven’t publicly announced their opinion. And then you have senators like Ron Johnson who seem confused about the basics. Religious protections will do NOTHING to safeguard child brides, children abused by pedophiles, incest, polygamy and the mockery of marriage.

Rush your urgent faxes to every senator you can to block HR 8404.

The dating phone app “Tinder” just launched a new campaign pushing people who have used the app to contact their legislators and demand they vote for HR 8404. The company stated, “we consider passage of this legislation to be imperative, and strongly support its quick passage.”

This is why it is so important for these senators to hear from you now!
