We've Been Funding Torture

Feb 14, 2025

The more we learn about our government’s insane and offensive spending, the more I am stunned. Our tax dollars are being used to torture cats in ways that churn my stomach — thanks to the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD).

These cats had incisions cut through their backs to expose their spinal cord to which electrodes were attached. A second incision was made in the colon. They then pressed a condom through that incision and filled it with fluid (almost five tablespoons worth) so that it pressurized the entire colon. Then they inserted between one and four marbles into the rectum of these cats. Finally, they set up a camera to record the cat’s rectum.

These experimenters shocked the cats (7 Hz, 6V 0.2ms) to see how long it took for them to poop out the marbles they had inserted. This is the equivalent of shocking these cats seven times per second with the equivalent of four AA batteries.

When one marble was placed inside, it took the cat 4.5 minutes of the electrical current flowing through its body to expel the marble. However, these abusers were still not done. They placed four marbles inside a cat and shocked it continuously for 11 minutes and concluded that the cat only expelled one marble while three marbles remained inside the cat.

Over 11 minutes, the cat received 4,620 shocks — this while its colon and spinal cord were exposed and the colon pressurized.

Have they no shame? Have they no morals? And they used our money to carry out this torture to the amount of 10.8 MILLION DOLLARS! This waste and abuse must immediately stop. Urge Congress to end this outrageous waste throughout our government. Slash and burn the nonessential spending during the budget reconciliation.

That 10.8 million dollars was paid to scientists at the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt) from funds funneled through the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). They cut into the backs of male cats, hooked up these same electrodes with the incisions still opened, and then shocked them to see if it would create an erection. The cats were shocked for 10 minutes at a time. If that still wasn’t enough torture, they would sever the spinal cords to paralyze the cats. Then they would shock the partially paralyzed cats for another 10 minutes.

This disgusting evil against God’s beautiful creation was paid for by our tax dollars through “military funding.” I am sorry for these graphic descriptions. They make me want to vomit. But we must know, and we must act.

Female cats were not exempt from torture. The DOD spent another 1.5 million dollars for Pitt to study making kittens so motion sick they would vomit. Female kittens were picked because they were discovered to be more “amenable” to this next type of torture. Scientists would restrain the heads and bodies with a bag and tube, and even the back feet for hours as a time in the weeks leading up to this next experiment so they would not fight the restraints.

Starting in 2019, they strapped the cats to a hydraulic table designed to spin and rotate in all directions, flashed the kittens with 10 LED lights placed just 11 inches away, and shocked them with electricity to induce vomiting. If a poor kitten didn’t vomit, they were prepared to pump copper sulfate into its stomach through a gastric catheter to induce vomiting.

The torture didn’t stop there. In some cases, these scientists would drill holes into the heads of these cats, “allowing the researchers to lock their heads into place during the spinning and shocking. But these aren’t just ordinary cats—they’re ‘zombified’ before the real torment begins. Through a process known as ‘decerebration,’ the researchers sever or completely remove parts of the kittens’ brains while they’re still alive. This leaves the kittens alive but devoid of any cognitive function, turning them into unresponsive shells that can be spun, shocked, and abused without resistance” according to one report.

... and all of this is done with our tax dollars — to kittens! This senseless abuse churns my stomach and has zero business happening through our military funding. Tell Congress to slash this outrageous and despicable spending. Our federal government has no business funding the torture of cats.

We have an incredible opportunity — a necessity — to cut 1 trillion dollars out of the federal budget. We must put anyone who opposes these spending cuts on the defense, demand that they justify this evil caused by our tax dollars for these inhumane experiments.

At the same time, we have understaffed FAA air traffic controllers and so many other necessary operations of the government. In North Carolina, families were helpless and completely reliant on private aid under Joe Biden, because FEMA was a disaster.

Instead, our government spent millions to torture cats and fund our enemies. It is time for Congress to act. Congress is coming down to the wire with a Continuing Resolution on what aspects of the government will be funded. Right now, Elon Musk is racing against the clock to find as much abuse as possible to get it pulled out of the next budget process.

Our team on Capitol Hill is working to expose this corruption and encourage legislators to stand firm against this government waste and unthinkable abuse.
