This is just the tip of the iceberg
Minnesota investigators uncovered a single fraudulent voter registration operator who submitted about 500 fraudulent voter registration forms. Both Lorraine Lee Combs and Ronnie Williams pleaded guilty for creating fictitious names and other data to fake Minnesota voter registration forms dating back to 2021 and 2022 — but they still haven’t been sentenced.
Even more troubling is the fact that the organization behind this operation was funded by taxpayer grants. And there are documents that point to this being planned as part of a conspiracy, claiming that “Foundation 1” was submitting false registration forms to election offices across the state “through its agents.” However, charges for that have yet to be announced.
Our elections are only as secure as the system that protects them. The Senate could vote on the SAVE America Act tomorrow, which would require proof of U.S. citizenship when registering to vote in federal elections and a photo ID to cast a vote. These are simple safeguards with overwhelming public support. Yet Senate leadership is considering procedural moves that could weaken the bill’s chances if citizens do not speak up immediately.
The Senate needs to hear from you today with a flood of faxes to urge them to take this vote and to take it seriously! We cannot have one person submitting 500 votes!
Ninety-nine percent of this foundation’s budget comes from state grants, so the state is funding this foundation, noted Minnesota State Rep. Kristin Robbins, chair of the Minnesota House Fraud Committee.
According to testimony and investigative reports, contractors were allegedly instructed to “use gloves” while filling out forms. This is an attempt to avoid leaving fingerprints and make prosecution harder.
It was discovered that this operation targeted at least 13 counties, spreading questionable registrations across the state.
Even worse, many critical questions remain unanswered months later.
We still do not know:
Who created the organization that received these government funds.
Who applied for these grants.
Who approved the grants.
How long the operation ran.
How much was spent in taxpayer dollars.
How many fraudulent registrations were submitted statewide through this “Foundation,” and much more.
In fact, the reporting on this Minnesota fraud has become disinterested. This serious issue has been downplayed. The fraud apparently runs deep.
Justice has not been swift either. The individuals involved pleaded guilty, but they still await sentencing. Meanwhile, the same structural problems remain in federal elections.
It will take time to clean up these messes across our nation, and that time is quickly slipping away. Urge the Senate, with your faxes, to act now to pass the Save America Act.
This case in Minnesota shows how vulnerable our voting system is.
In fact, Minnesota is one of the states that allows voters to register and vote on Election Day. In some cases, a person can register without proof of address. Instead, Minnesota law allows another registered voter to accompany them to the polling place and sign an oath confirming the person’s address. This process is known as “vouching.”
Each person can “vouch” for eight other people, so those 500 records can quickly spread. If they use one of these fraudulent accounts to vouch for someone, 500 could quickly become 4,000 fraudulent “votes” all stemming from one person and eight accomplices, going from county to county.
State audit materials note that when someone registers at the polling place, certain eligibility checks may occur AFTER their vote is cast. But if they register on Election Day and cast their vote, that “safeguard” is too little, too late. The damage has already been done.
That is why your faxes are needed up and down the halls of the Senate, urging them to pass the SAVE America Act without delay.
The SAVE America Act establishes a clear nationwide standard: proof of citizenship to register for federal elections and a photo ID to vote. This is about protecting the right to have your vote counted fairly.
A rally is taking place in Senate Majority Leader John Thune’s home state this week demanding stronger election integrity protections. More such rallies are being organized. But if you can’t drive to Rapid City, South Dakota, you can still make your voice heard with your faxes today.
Fax as many senators as possible immediately. Your fax messages cut through political noise in a way emails and social media cannot. Senate offices are legally required to track and record your faxes carefully.
Organizing a nationwide effort to support good bills like this requires resources. Liberty Counsel Action is working daily on Capitol Hill, meeting with lawmakers, educating voters, and defending election integrity policies.
This is only possible with your support. If you believe American elections should be decided only by American citizens, please support our ministry’s efforts today through either a recurring donation or a single gift.
