Let The Showdown Begin

Mar 21, 2026

The Senate is on the verge of a consequential vote

The battle over whether elections will require proof of citizenship and photo ID to vote has now reached critical mass.

President Donald Trump has called the SAVE America Act “one of the most IMPORTANT & CONSEQUENTIAL pieces of legislation in the history of Congress.” He warned that he may refuse to sign ANY other legislation until this bill reaches his desk.

I cannot remember another president drawing such a clear line.

And now — this fight has reached the Senate floor.

The time to act is RIGHT NOW. The “talking filibuster” could force a vote and lead to victory — but only if the Senate hears from you!

This week, the Senate voted 51-48 to begin debate on the SAVE America Act — a bill that would require proof of citizenship to register to vote and a photo ID to cast a ballot.

This should be common sense.

But instead, it has triggered one of the fiercest battles in Congress.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune and others are facing “heavy lobbying” pressure from all sides. Every vote is being pushed, pulled, and pressured.

And here’s the truth: This bill has been delayed for 20 years.

Experts studying election systems across nearly 100 democracies concluded that voter ID laws are standard — not extreme. In fact, one major bipartisan commission recommended voter identification tied to registration to protect ballot integrity while maintaining access.

These standards “should be fully implemented by 2006.”

But here we are — two decades later — still fighting.

That is long enough.

And now, this may be the best chance we have to finally pass it.

Even if you have faxed before — you must fax again.

Here is the obstacle standing in the way.

The Senate uses something called a filibuster.

It didn’t always work the way it does today.

In the past, if senators wanted to block a bill, they had to stand on the floor and speak — sometimes for hours or days — in what was called a “talking filibuster.” The Senate could not move forward with anything else during that time.

It forced accountability.

It forced courage ... and endurance.

It forced senators to stand up and their votes to be counted.

But today?

A senator can simply declare a filibuster — and walk away, go golfing, or take a vacation.

No speeches. No effort. No accountability.

And it takes 60 votes to overcome that block.

That means even if a majority supports a bill, it can still die.

We do not support eliminating the filibuster. But I do believe senators should have to stand and defend their position — not hide behind the procedure.

Because right now, that procedural shield is being used to stop this bill.

And the pressure is intense.

Trump warned: “Only sick, demented, or deranged people in the House or Senate could vote against THE SAVE AMERICA ACT... A guaranteed loss!”

The Senate needs to hear from YOU.

Liberty Counsel Action is working to push this legislation forward.

But we cannot do it alone.

We need your voice — and your support — right now.

This is a defining moment.

Will America require proof of citizenship to vote ... or not?

That question is being decided THIS WEEK.

Your fax could be the one that tips the scale.

And your financial support allows us to stay in this fight — mobilizing, advocating, and holding Congress accountable.

A single gift ... or even better, a recurring monthly gift ... will help sustain this critical work in the days ahead.

This is not just another vote.

This is about the integrity of our elections ... the voice of citizens ... and the future of our republic.
