Domestic abuse case denied restraining order because of Sharia law
Congress MUST pass the Ban Sharia Act NOW!
A New Jersey judge refused to grant a restraining order to a victim of domestic abuse because her husband’s Islamic religious law, aka Sharia, allows husbands to do whatever they want to their wives.
Sharia is creeping into the American legal system, undermining U.S. law and replacing it with Sharia.
Sabira* was just 17 years old when she was forced into an arranged marriage with a man she had never met. One month after they were married in Morocco, her husband moved her to New Jersey. It likely saved her life — but not before Sabira suffered incredible abuse.
And our American court looked the other way just because of Sharia. Congress MUST pass H.R. 5722 & S. 3009, the “Preserving a Sharia-Free America Act,” before even one more misguided liberal judge imposes draconian Sharia here in America!
Save America from Islamic Sharia! Demand Congress VOTE YES on H.R. 5722 & S. 3009, Preserving a Sharia-Free America Act, before it’s too late!
Three months after Sabira was married and just two months after emigrating to the U.S., Sabira’s husband began beating, r*ping, and imprisoning her in a locked room in the house. She was able to escape through a window. A neighbor noticed the bruised and bleeding girl and called the police who rushed her to the hospital.
But the husband’s imam convinced the girl to return to her abuser. For weeks, her husband again locked her in a room, starved her, and brutally r*ped and beat her nightly until she was able to escape once more. The police took her to the emergency room again, and this time, there was no way Sabira was ever going back to her violent husband of just six months.
In fear for her life, Sabira asked the court for a restraining order against her husband, begging the judge to “protect me from him.”
Sabira’s Moroccan-born husband’s ONLY defense for abusing his wife was that Islamic law, Sharia, allowed him to do whatever he wanted to do to his wife. “This is according to our religion,” he said. “You are my wife, I c[an] do anything to you.” And this is what Sharia allows, and it is creeping across our nation. You won’t believe what happened next!
NO Sharia on U.S. soil! Demand Congress VOTE YES on the “Preserving a Sharia-Free America Act”!
Democratic politician turned N.J. Superior Court Judge Joseph Charles entertained testimony from the husband’s imam, which confirmed that the husband’s position was in line with Sharia.
In his ruling, Judge Charles admitted there was a preponderance of evidence proving Sabira’s husband had assaulted her, including emergency room reports, police documentation of abuse, and photos of Sabira’s bruised and bloodied body.
But Judge Charles REFUSED to issue a restraining order to protect Sabira — because of her husband’s Islamic law!
Sabira would not receive a restraining order protecting her from her abuser until after a separate criminal court convicted her husband of domestic violence and sexual assault. Sabira’s life was at risk for nearly a year until her abuser was put in prison.
Sharia is wholly incompatible with American law, and NO judge should EVER elevate foreign laws over U.S. law in an American court. But it keeps happening, and we must put a stop to it NOW before even one more woman is abused by Sharia.
PROTECT Women like Sabira! Tell Congress to BAN SHARIA!
VOTE YES on H.R. 5722 & S. 3009.
