HERE’S WHY THE SAVE AMERICA ACT IS SO NEEDED.

Almost no one thinks illegal aliens should vote — except, apparently, Democrat politicians, radical organizations, four Republican senators, and now a judge who blocked election integrity efforts. Together, they are all fighting nearly every attempt to verify citizenship, show voter ID, and clean up our voter rolls!

A year ago, President Trump signed an executive order directing federal agencies to help states check voter rolls against federal citizenship and immigration records. Since then, Senators and Representatives have been claiming on one hand that illegal aliens are not voting — but on the other hand, they are doing EVERYTHING in their power to make sure that they could, if they wanted to.

Earlier this week, a federal judge ruled against Trump’s citizenship-verification system. The judge opined that states were using it to cross-check voter registrations for illegal aliens.

While the judge did not declare that illegal aliens can vote, that is what this ruling will enable. She stated that by verifying voting eligibility, the Trump administration was acting in a manner “contrary to law, arbitrary and capricious ... ” Those were her reasons for permanently blocking this election integrity system.

Because of her misguided ruling, a major tool for identifying potentially ineligible registrations has been stripped from the hands of state election officials just months before a critical federal election.

And Congress is standing there watching, doing nothing.

WHAT THE SAVE AMERICA ACT WILL DO

American citizens can lose voting privileges after certain felony convictions, depending on state law. Yet federal law still relies heavily upon an honor system to keep foreign nationals from entering the voter-registration process.

That is completely backwards.

The SAVE America Act would establish clear nationwide protections for federal elections. It would require proof of United States citizenship when registering to vote and an eligible photo identification before casting a ballot.

The House already passed the bill, 218–213, on February 11. But in the Senate, it has repeatedly run into a Democratic wall, the filibuster, and Republican leaders who insist there is nothing more they can do.

Nothing more? Trump just proved them wrong.

The question we face is very simple: Should American elections be decided by American citizens?

Instead of standing and fighting what Trump rightly calls the “desperately needed SAVE America Act,” way too many Republicans are running from this fight — one they could easily win.
