One by one, a Michigan pastor looked directly at the members of the Dearborn City Council. He brought legitimate concerns this month that this Michigan city is already living under Islamic “Sharia law.” Then Pastor Lorenzo Sewell gave them an easy question:

“Will you renounce Sharia law?”

He even singled out individual council members — one by one.

“Will you renounce Sharia law?”

Everyone stayed silent. Not one council member would say: American law and our Constitution govern Dearborn, not Islamic law.

Pastor Sewell turned from the council and issued the city and the nation a chilling warning:

“America, we have lost this city.”

Right now, there are bills in both chambers of Congress that will end the proliferation of Sharia throughout America. Send as many urgent FAXES as possible to Congress. Demand that lawmakers protect America from Sharia and preserve our constitutional freedoms.

“This is a city that is no longer up under American laws; we are up under Sharia law. We will not have it anymore. ... Enough is enough,” said Pastor Sewell.

Sewell accused Dearborn officials of enforcing the law differently depending on who was speaking — and whose religion was being criticized.

Earlier this month, activist Jake Lang went to Dearborn during an Islamic Arbaeen procession and exercised his First Amendment rights. Video captured the confrontation as people chased Lang and violence erupted.

Sewell accused city leadership of creating a culture where Christians and critics of Islam can be intimidated, assaulted, and driven from the public square while Islamic sensitivities receive extraordinary protection.

“When Jake Lang talked about Jesus, he was assaulted.”

“The spirit of Hubbard is still in this city,” Sewell declared, referring to former Dearborn Mayor Orville Hubbard. Hubbard ruled Dearborn politics for decades and became nationally notorious for keeping Black Americans out of the city. Hubbard once proudly declared that he was for segregation “1 million percent.”

Now Sewell — a Black American pastor — stood before the modern government of Dearborn and accused its leaders of using Sharia to perpetuate a new form of the same old discrimination.

While equal protections are safeguarded in our Constitution, Sharia is the opposite. The two cannot coexist.

FAX Congress. Demand that lawmakers stop the spread of Sharia.

How did Dearborn become the battlefront for Sharia?

Henry Ford used his enormous wealth and influence to spread some of the most infamous antisemitic propaganda in U.S. history.

Ford's Dearborn Independent published a sustained campaign attacking Jews and even went so far that he published the fraudulent Protocols of the Elders of Zion. Ford’s dealerships helped distribute this fake-news antisemitic publication.

As a part of his goal to fight against Jews, Dearborn and other factories specifically recruited Yemeni workers in the early 1900s and from other Muslim countries. Yemen’s population was roughly 93% Muslim.

Now, this same city is at the center of a national argument over religious liberty, antisemitism, Islamic influence, and whether our laws apply equally to everyone.

What happens in Dearborn is already spreading to other communities.
