Betrayal in the Senate

Republican saboteur senators are making up lies while the integrity of our elections is hanging by a damaged thread.

According to the White House, a Department of Homeland Security review found approximately 278,000 noncitizens registered to vote in federal elections in just four cooperating states. Yet the Senate left Washington for its August recess without passing either the SAVE America Act or the reconciliation package.

The House is pushing critical provisions of the SAVE America Act through its latest budget reconciliation package, including 10 billion dollars to help states implement citizenship verification and voter ID protections. And the urgency is growing.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) is whining that verifying citizenship costs too much and is “too difficult.” She claimed that residents of one small city would need an 800-mile flight to verify citizenship, but the truth is it only takes a walk to the local library or DMV as Alaska automatically registers noncitizens to vote. Then Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) suddenly claims it is “too late” in the legislative calendar to pass this bill — after he spent months repeatedly voting it down.

These weak-kneed leaders are squirming because they are starting to feel the heat from faithful patriots like you. But instead of doing the right thing, they are still trying to duck responsibility.

We stand at a critical crossroads for our republic today. As people of faith, God has called you to be a faithful steward of freedom, and your voice can break through their cowardice right now. We have just a few days left to get this passed, or it will be too late to implement for the midterms. This may be our only chance to successfully pass this bill.

Murkowski claims requiring proof of citizenship would force Alaskans to take a costly trip just to register. But Alaska’s 30+ DMV locations already handle proof of citizenship or legal residency, and so do their countless libraries. These locations handle voter registration, passport applications, and citizenship verification.

Her argument completely collapses under the slightest scrutiny. To get a Real ID or driver's license in Alaska, residents must show proof of citizenship or legal residency. Alaskans receive an annual royalty payment from oil sales and must prove citizenship or legal residency to get that, too.

Again, Alaska has many DMV and library facilities. Simply allowing those DMV offices to register voters when citizens get or renew their licenses easily solves this entire issue.

Send your urgent faxes to Congress to uphold election security by including the SAVE Act to require proof of citizenship.

The SAVE America Act is our strongest defense against noncitizen voting, and every senator must be forced to take a public stand immediately. Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) boldly declared he would happily give up August recess for a real fight to pass this bill because American voters want leaders who fight for them.

Establishment turncoats will only fight if you force them to feel your wrath today.
