Today is the last day of a massive Islamic annual convention 

Thousands have gathered. Dozens of speakers took to this platform. But their words and their goals are deeply concerning! Americans deserve to know what some of the men on this stage have said about Islam, our government, and Sharia. 

One of the speakers at the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) convention in Detroit, Siraj Wahhaj, has told people exactly what he thinks. 

“You don't get involved in politics because it is the American thing to do. You get involved in politics because politics are a weapon to use in the cause of Islam.” 

A weapon. Those are his words. And Wahhaj didn't stop there. He has also been quoted declaring: 

“Islam is better than democracy. Allah will cause Islam to become a complete way of life, to prevail over every kind of system. And you know what? It will happen.” 

America's constitutional republic rests upon government of the people, individual liberty, and rights that government cannot simply extinguish. Yet this is what Wahhaj is trying to fight. 

Islam is a real and present danger to our system of laws and our nation’s future. Demand that every member of Congress vote YES on the Preserving a Sharia-Free America Act (H.R. 5722 & S. 3009). Once the convention concludes, the push to advance Sharia in America’s classrooms and on Capitol Hill will continues. 

Sharia is incompatible with the U.S. Constitution. It must not be allowed to override American law, shape our children’s education, or gain any foothold in our public institutions. 

These Muslim leaders in this annual conference have an entirely different vision for our nation. Wahhaj once told a reporter: “If only Muslims were clever politically, they could take over the United States and replace its constitutional government with a caliphate.” 

This isn't speculation about what someone might believe. It’s directly from the mouth of a man ISNA lists among the invited and confirmed speakers at this weekend's convention. 

“If we were united and strong, we'd elect our own emir [leader] and give allegiance to him,” Wahhaj said. 

And he isn't the only convention speaker with questionable past statements. Former ISNA President Muzammil Siddiqi has discussed what he would like to see happen as Islam grows in America: 

“Once more people accept Islam, insha'allah, this will lead to the implementation of Sharia in all areas.” 

Not merely private prayer. Not simply dietary rules or religious observance. 

“Sharia in all areas.” 

Siddiqi has also said: “It is the final religion of Allah ... Allah does not accept any other religion from the humanity except this religion.” 

No aspect of religious liberty requires Americans to accept alternative laws like Sharia — or any other religious legal code — above our Constitution. 

That is why Congress must act. 

FAX Congress today. Demand that lawmakers protect the supremacy of the U.S. Constitution and stop any foreign or religious legal system from overriding Americans' constitutional rights. 

The convention ends tonight. The banners will come down. The microphones will go silent. Thousands will leave Detroit back to their home communities. But their mission won’t change, their vision won’t alter, and their goals stay the same. 

But the very ideas proclaimed by these speakers are a dagger to the heart of peace within of our nation, especially on the cusp of the 25th anniversary of 9/11.
