BREAKING: EPA Tests For Abortion In Our Water

Sep 16, 2026

Environmental Protection Agency to test tap water for abortion pollutants

For more than a year, we have been asking one question: What is actually coming out of America’s faucets?

What happens when 700,000 chemical abortions take place in homes across America? After all, these abortion drugs do not simply vanish. Instead, the active abortion drug components, the preborn child the drugs kill, and the abortion-related biological waste all enter America’s wastewater system.

Where do those chemicals go next? Can wastewater treatment plants remove them? Do they reach rivers and lakes?

Could they make their way back into America’s drinking water?

For far too long, the answer to all these questions was: We don’t know. And we’re not testing to find out.

But after months of high-level meetings with the EPA, the Food and Drug Administration, Congress, and the White House, we have just witnessed an extraordinary breakthrough.

The breaking news is that for the first time ever, the EPA will start testing our water supply for both of the abortion pills, mifepristone and misoprostol, as well as their active metabolites!

It’s wonderful news ... but more needs to be done.

Fax Congress, the FDA, and the EPA to demand a full investigation and immediate action to stop this mushrooming national health crisis.
We now have a disturbing pollution signal from a peer-reviewed study that tested municipal tap water in three American communities.

This groundbreaking tap water study found statistically significant levels of mifepristone-equivalent anti-progesterone activity in the water of two of the three communities tested — Carbondale, Illinois, and Austin, Texas.

“Water samples were collected from sites upstream and downstream of water treatment facilities and from municipal tap water in each of three American cities. ... There were significant levels of anti-progesterone activity (up to 0.041 μgram/l) in the water of all but one of the nine sampling classes.”

Think about that: In two of three communities tested, scientists found measurable levels of contamination consistent with the abortion drug’s progesterone-blocking effects coming straight from the city drinking water.

That should set off alarm bells in every household across America.

While we’re thrilled that the EPA is stepping up to test, much more needs to be done.

This is a national health emergency, and Congress, the FDA, and the EPA need to act now to protect our water supply. Fax Congress, the FDA, and the EPA to demand a full investigation and immediate action.

For many months, our LCA team refused to let this issue disappear. We launched our Abortion in Our Water campaign and website.

We investigated the science. We produced a special report.

We met with White House officials, placed our research into the hands of the top staff in the office of Health & Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy. We went to the FDA. We spoke with EPA staff. We submitted testimony and written comments to the EPA’s Science Advisory Board and the EPA itself — and spoke to anyone else who would listen.

But ALL OF THIS WAS ONLY POSSIBLE BECAUSE OF GOOD FRIENDS LIKE YOU. Your kind and generous monthly or single gifts have made this work possible.

The EPA is now starting the very drinking water investigation for which we have been calling.

This is a fantastic first step. But knowing there is a problem is a long way from solving it. And what we need are answers.

Tell Congress, the FDA, and the EPA to not just investigate but to take swift action NOW to end this attack on our water.

No American mother should stand at her kitchen sink filling a glass for her child and have to wonder whether powerful, deadly abortion pill residues are present in that water. We need the science. We need the truth, and we need action!

We must finish what we started. Give generously today to help make it happen!

God bless,
