Advancing Life and Liberty Through Action
"Don’t ever shy away from our progressive values. One person’s socialism is another person’s neighborliness."
Tim Walz’s recent comment on a “White Dudes for Harris” call summarizes the danger of the Democratic presidential ticket — they are trying to normalize radical socialism.
Walz himself comes across as a relaxed, relatable high school teacher (which he was). His midwestern demeanor is disarming and agreeable; his stances on the issues are anything but. A former Congressman, his votes tended to toe the party line, at times requiring him to defend his more liberal-leaning votes to those at home in his swing district. As governor of Minnesota, he turned the state into a progressive policy experiment, ushering in the most liberal abortion and pro-LGBT laws in the country, including an unfathomable law repealing protections for infants born alive as the result of a failed abortion. The state is now known as an abortion sanctuary and a "trans refuge.”
While the full ramifications of the policies he signed into law remain to be seen, Minnesotans are already exiting the state en masse, due, in part, to burdensome tax rates and progressive policies.
But it’s not just the governor’s radical policies that are concerning. Walz’s incompetence as an executive is equally horrendous, having repeatedly failed to ensure the laws he was meant to administer were followed. Perhaps the most appalling example relates to his failure to enforce the 2015 Born Alive Infants Protection Act: Eight infants died under his watch after surviving a failed abortion prior to his repeal of the law. Other examples abound.
If that were not enough to cause concern, a congressional committee is investigating his longstanding connections to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Indeed, as James Comer (the chairman of the committee leading the investigation) highlights, his status as Kamala Harris’ vice-presidential running mate should deeply concern all Americans, given the CCP have "sought to destroy the United States through coordinated influence and infiltration campaigns that target every aspect of American life, including our own elected officials.”
As GOP vice presidential candidate JD Vance said that “he may be ... even more of a liberal than [Kamala] is, if that's even humanly possible." Indeed, as the following details of Walz’s political career demonstrate, he may also be more incompetent.
Dangerous and Damaging: Walz’s Views on Life, Liberty, & the Family
The conservative CPAC Foundation ranked Walz as “the most far Left of all the candidates on Harris’ vice-presidential shortlist." Indeed, his views on the issues that matter most are not only to the left of his party but are some of the most dangerous policies this nation has seen in decades.
Life
Post-Roe, Walz made Minnesota the model for abortion extremists in every state, signing three bills into law that together made Minnesota an abortion sanctuary.
The first bill, the Protect Reproductive Options (“PRO”) Act, codifies abortion as a fundamental right — without limits or safeguards, permitting abortion up to birth for any reason. Babies can be aborted throughout all nine months of pregnancy, parents have no right to be informed, and there is no need for a doctor to be involved nor for a facility providing the abortion to be licensed.
A second bill, the Reproductive Healthcare Bill, allows individuals who have committed felonies by violating abortion laws in other states to be licensed to perform abortions in Minnesota (more specifically, committing a felony related to providing abortion in another state cannot be used as the sole reason to bar an applicant from licensure in Minnesota.)
As one pro-life advocacy group outlined, Walz and the Democratic-Farmer-Labor (Democrat)-controlled legislature somehow went even further with a third bill (the Health and Human Services Omnibus Bill) that repealed the 2015 Born Alive Infants Protection Act, allowing doctors and nurses to deny lifesaving care to infants who survive abortions.
Reporting requirements enacted by the same 2015 Minnesota law reveal that under Walz, eight babies born alive from a failed abortion were left to die. Specifically, between Jan. 1, 2019, and Dec. 31, 2021, physicians performed eight abortions that resulted in a baby’s live birth. In a seeming violation of the law, none of the babies were provided with medical care to save their lives, and while some were given “comfort care,” it does not appear that any of the babies born alive in botched abortions survived:
One baby had “fetal anomalies” — no measures were taken to help this poor infant, who died “shortly after delivery.”
Three babies were given “comfort care” as they were dying.
Three babies seemingly weren’t even given comfort care because they were pre-viable.
Another baby had “fetal anomalies” and “residual cardiac activity” for 2 minutes, but no efforts were “taken to preserve the life of the infant” — and the baby died.
The bill Walz signed to remove protections for born alive infants also removed these reporting requirements (which included reporting on whether the abortion resulted in an infant born alive, “any medical actions taken to preserve the life of the born alive infant,” “whether the born alive infant survived,” “the status of the born alive infant, should the infant survive, if known”).
In the same omnibus health bill, Walz also signed into law measures that:
Repealed provisions that sought to prevent coerced abortions.
Repealed the Positive Alternatives Act, a grant program that assisted pregnancy resource centers across the state, providing support and practical assistance “for tens of thousands of pregnant women and new mothers.”
Increased taxpayer funding for abortion.
Removed a law ensuring informed consent (the “Woman’s Right to Know law”) before an abortion procedure.
In short, the policies Walz supports deprive newborns who survive abortion “the right to lifesaving care” while simultaneously “shielding such cases from the public.”
Religious Liberty and the Family
Walz signed into law the most radical, dangerous LGBT legislation in the nation, allowing the state to take “emergency custody” of children who struggle with identity — both within the state, as well as those who may somehow find their way to the state — so they may receive “gender-affirming health care” without parental consent. Aforementioned “care” ranges from puberty blockers to “cross-sex hormones, permanent hair removal, voice therapy, and surgical interventions.” Such surgical interventions lead to genital mutilation and sterilization.
The law also outlines that subpoenas from other states shall not be recognized when they relate to any state laws “designed to interfere with an individual’s right to receive gender-affirming health care,” so while a parent whose child is taken from them could file suit against the state, their lawsuit is unlikely to do any good, given Minnesota Courts are bound to follow the provisions in this law.
In other words, though other states (such as the neighboring states of Iowa, South and North Dakota) prohibit such “care,” should a child who suffers from gender dysphoria find a way to cross the border into Minnesota, the state will essentially kidnap the child by refusing to return the child to their parents while he or she undergoes “treatment” that leads to genital mutilation and, in females, mastectomies of healthy breast tissue.
Walz’s first executive order established a Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity Council. (Similar policies have come under scrutiny since the Trump assassination attempt given their propensity to place diversity characteristics above legitimate qualifications.)
In the Public Safety Omnibus bill Walz signed, a section was amended to redefine sexual orientation (to include LGBTQ+ attraction). However, the amendment removed language that stated it “does not include a physical or sexual attachment to children by an adult” (emphasis added). While unclear, an activist judge could interpret this broadly to mean that pedophilia is a protected class.
Walz also passed the Take Pride Act, which included a provision meaning organizations like the Girl Scouts may be forced to hire LGBTQ+ individuals.
Quick Takes: Extreme Socialism
Illegal Immigration and U.S. Border Policy
Walz signed into law the Driver’s License for All Act, allowing illegal immigrants to obtain a driver’s license. Not only could this encourage illegal immigration, but in response to a question about deportation risks, Minnesota Driver Services Program Director shared that her department will not provide immigration law enforcement officials with “the names or personal information of applicants.”
A related bill signed by Walz, the Democracy for the People Act, requires those who apply for driver’s licenses (among other things) to be automatically registered to vote. While this law required properly working technical infrastructure that would ensure non-citizens are not registered to vote, it was unclear whether the infrastructure would operate correctly when needed.
Walz also made Minnesota an immigration “sanctuary state,” meaning the state shields “illegal aliens from federal law enforcement.”
Yet another pro-illegal immigration policy signed into law by Walz makes illegal aliens eligible for free college tuition.
During an interview with CNN, Walz criticized Trump’s plan to build a wall and joked he would invest in a “ladder factory.”
Israel
Walz appears to support a two-state solution, alongside increased humanitarian aid to Gaza.
His penchant to evolve on issues over time alongside his less vocal stance on Israel generally led some individuals to prefer him over Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (who some suspected Harris may name as her vice presidential nominee); for example, one voter shared, “I think the biggest issue there was that [Shapiro] became such a controversial figure that I think Kamala Harris probably saw him as a liability... And Tim Walz, while, yes, [he] is still supportive of Israel, [he] didn’t have these very public scandals and very public support of Israel in the same way.”
Law and Order: Descent into Lawlessness
After the tragic shooting of George Floyd, Gov. Walz allowed the riots that broke out in his state to escalate to a dangerous degree, leading to the death of at least three citizens, as well as injuries to citizens and law enforcement amid “looting, vandalism, loss of business, and the destruction of public and personal property totaling ... over $500 million.” Failing to fully mobilize the National Guard for days after multiple requests from the mayor of Minneapolis, the riots “went unchecked for approximately five days.”
Furthermore, a Minnesota Senate report revealed that Walz’s adult daughter was provided “access” to “confidential information that she then disseminated to the general public and rioters” via multiple tweets, including one that reassured rioters that “the national guard will not be present tonight.”
The same report chastises Walz for putting “police, Minnesota State Troopers, and the Minnesota National Guard in jeopardy” and highlights that police feared for their lives, abandoning a precinct in the city (the last time that happened was 1863). In summary: “Governor Walz ... initially chose to negotiate with and appease the rioters rather than give law enforcement the authority to confront criminal acts with enough force to restore law and order. The Office of the Governor and local elected officials are responsible for protecting the public. Inaction on the part of state and local officials led to an increase in violence.”
Gwen Walz, the governor’s wife, shared that she intentionally left windows open during the riots to “smell the burning tires.”
Rather than accept responsibility for his part in failing to maintain peace during the 2020 riots, Walz blamed Mayor Frey for the failure to quell the violence.
Law and Order: Failure to Prevent Fraud
Under Gov. Walz’s watch, the Minnesota Department of Education failed to prevent a $250 million embezzlement of funds. Instead, the money, meant to ensure the nutrition needs of hungry children were met during the COVID-19 pandemic, appears to have been siphoned by multiple individuals who falsely claimed they were using the funds properly.
Upon learning of the fraud, the Department of Education under Walz started to investigate and stopped payments, until they were accused of discriminating against a minority immigrant population. Seemingly to appease this population, Walz “allowed the fraudulent payments to continue.”
Eventually Walz tried to put the responsibility for the fraud “on a Ramsey County Judge.” Several Minnesota Congressmen and women, however, continued to press for answers, and to date, the U.S. Attorney has charged 70 indivduals.
Walz advocates for tighter gun control legislation. In doing so, he has also lied about his military service, what some are calling “stolen valor,” claiming to have carried weapons in war when in fact he retired from the National Guard before his unit was deployed to Iraq.
Under Walz’s leadership, the state of Minnesota has seen an overall increase in violent crime, remaining “well above the historically low levels seen prior to the pandemic.”
More specifically, “In 2024 violent crime in Minneapolis remains 29% above 2019. Individually aggravated assaults remain up 32%, robberies up 54%, and murder up 114% over ... just 5 years earlier.”
Health Care and Pandemic Policies
Walz believes health care is a “basic human right,” a phrase often used to signify support for universal health care.
Walz’s administration set up a hotline during the COVID-19 pandemic seeking “to monitor compliance with his 2020 stay-at-home order,” allowing individuals to report the activity of others that failed to comply with the order. Thousands of people tattled on their neighbors for activities ranging from “playing basketball in a park, walking their dogs, and throwing small parties.” So much for neighborliness!
Similarly, prior to being sued, Walz flagrantly disregarded constitutional freedoms by unilaterally closing “places of worship, schools, and businesses for several months ... under the guise of emergency powers.”
Walz signed into law a bill allowing illegal immigrant access to state-funded health care coverage.
China
The Congressional Committee on Oversight and Accountability recently sent a letter to the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) highlighting that Tim Walz’s connections to Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials and related entities “make him susceptible to the Party’s strategy of elite capture, which seeks to co-opt influential figures in elite political, cultural, and academic circles to influence the United States to the benefit of the communist regime and the detriment of Americans” (emphasis added).
In 2015, he was part of a Democratic delegation to China, led by Nancy Pelosi. Commenting on the trip, Walz stated it was a “healthy dialogue” and that the relationship between the U.S. and China is “critically important; it's too critically important on trade; it's too critically important on climate change; it's too critically important on national security, issues of containment of terrorism and everything else that's involved.” In the same statement, he acknowledges that “human rights aspects are lagging a little behind” and agreed it was right for Chinese government officials to compare their exile of the Dalai Lama with how the “Native American situation has gone for America ... rightfully pointing out that mistakes were made.”
Alongside this congressional investigation, Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN) is seeking answers from the Pentagon related to whether the “obvious security risk” Walz “posed to the US” by visiting China at least a dozen times while serving in the National Guard. In a letter to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, Banks asks questions related to the “risks of hostile foreign intelligence activity” Walz faced and stated that “any individual traveling dozens of times to an adversary nation in a personal capacity while having access to classified information poses an obvious security risk.”
Walz has specifically stated he does not “fall into the category that China necessarily needs to be an adversarial relationship.
While Walz shared his horror over the Tiananmen Square massacre, he chose the anniversary of the massacre as his wedding day because, as his wife said, “he wanted to have a date he'll always remember." Notably, he and his wife honeymooned in China.
Described by Chairman James Comer as having a “cozy relationship” with China, having taught in and visited the country approximately 30 times, Comer highlights, "FBI briefers told the Committee that the Bureau’s Foreign Influence Task Force (FITF) investigates exactly the kind of activity that has since come to light about Governor Walz.” That is, based on his activities with the CCP, what should follow (in addition to the congressional investigation) is an investigation by the FBI’s Foreign Influence Task Force.
Education
Though spending has increased under Walz, “Minnesota student scores on the state’s reading and math tests [MCA’s] ... declined significantly since 2019, with now for the first time since the MCAs have been administered majorities of K-12 students not meeting grade-level standards in both subjects.”
Walz signed into law a bill that requires schools to place dispensers for tampons (or similar products) in boy’s bathrooms.
Environment and the Economy
In 2023, Walz signed legislation to make Minnesota “100% clean energy by 2040.” Similar to the Green New Deal that Harris supported, while the bill purports to benefit the environment and create jobs (for “clean energy”), it is, in fact, detrimental to the economy and has already resulted in increasing electricity costs. Indeed, according to the Center of the American Experiment, the policies outlined in Walz’s 2023 renewable energy mandate are “causing massive price increases and will ultimately lead to blackouts.”
During Walz’s time as governor, the state he was entrusted with “fell behind the country in GDP per capita” for the first time in recent history. Similarly, another news outlet reports the economy in Minnesota grew “more slowly than that of the rest of the country” under his leadership.
In short, as reported by Breitbart, his policies mean “wiping out the fossil fuel industry,” which translates as potential energy shortages and increased energy prices.
The Likely Outcome of a Nation Under Harris-Walz
What happened in Minnesota — leading to a mass exodus as its citizens sought to escape burdensome tax rates and progressive policies — will happen in our nation. As House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) summarized, Harris-Walz is the "most radical left-wing ticket in American history."
