Abortion without limits
A law likely to pass in New Jersey will make it illegal for a mother to “interfere” with her daughter’s abortion. A sidewalk counselor could be charged with “interference” by merely handing out literature or holding a sign in front of an abortion clinic.
New Jersey is just the first step on the march to unfettered abortion.
The same sweeping provisions are also in the federal Equality Act, H.R. 15 and S. 1503. And if Congress passes the Equality Act, these radical provisions will no longer be confined to one state. They will extend into every corner of America.
Send your urgent faxes to Congress today. Tell the members of the U.S. House and Senate to vote NO on the Equality Act.
The New Jersey bill prohibits “interference with reproductive health care services.” All “attempts to intimidate, threaten, or coerce” opposition to abortion could be punished, along with alleged harm to a person’s reputation, finances, emotions, or even claims of “mental anguish.”
That same spirit drives the Equality Act. This federal bill would elevate to federal civil rights law “pregnancy, childbirth, or a related medical condition,” which is exceptionally broad.
The Equality Act would give activists a weapon to punish doctors, nurses, pharmacists, employers, churches, ministries, and pregnancy help centers, who refuse to fund, refer, cover, or participate in abortion.
New Jersey uses state criminal and civil law to protect abortion access.
The Equality Act would use federal civil and private lawsuits to advance abortion nationwide.
Different bills. Same goal.
Abortion without accountability, without conscience protections, and without limits.
The misnamed Equality Act is now back with a vengeance under H.R. 15 and S. 1503. If passed, countless lives could be destroyed, and many children could die. Tell Congress to Vote No on the “Equality Act”! Send your faxes NOW!
If the Equality Act elevates abortion to federal civil rights law, then pro-life laws, conscience protections, parental notice, pregnancy help centers, religious objections, and taxpayer funding limits would be erased.
People can be prosecuted for “interfering” with abortion. Hospitals, doctors, nurses, pharmacists, ministries, Christian employers, and taxpayers could be pressured to fund, cover, refer, or participate in abortion — including chemical abortion.
The Equality Act goes even further. It says the federal Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) cannot be used as a defense.
RFRA has provided some of the greatest victories against abortion mandates, like Little Sisters of the Poor and Hobby Lobby.
It is not equality to elevate killing children above religious freedom.
We are actively fighting what is happening in New Jersey. Thus far, we have been able to stop the Equality Act, but it is now very close to passing.
We can and must stop this bill. No one should be forced to fund, refer for, cover, or perform abortions.
