Ryan English had a list that included House Speaker Mike Johnson, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and even President Trump.

English — a Massachusetts man who identifies as “transgender” and goes by “Riley Jane English” — had become convinced that these leaders were an existential threat to “transgender” Americans.

He called them “Nazis” — even killers. English wanted to “depose” of these political officials and “send a message.”

Thinking you are “born in the wrong body” is not normal. It is a mental illness. There should be no “pride” in this illness, and no law should give the T and Q in LGBTQ special status.

Yet every Democrat in Congress is pushing to pass the “Equality Act,” which would demand special privileges for every trans claim in federal civil-rights law. FAX Congress now. Demand that lawmakers block this bill.

Fueling his confused thinking, media outlets and political leaders were broadcasting increasingly apocalyptic rhetoric, pouring gas on the fire of his grief. An op-ed in The Guardian declared: “There is a war on trans people. And we are fighting literally for our lives.” The Associated Press ran a quote about a “national effort to erase transgender, non-binary, gender non-conforming and gender fluid people from American society.”

High-ranking politicians accused Trump of waging a “war on trans Americans” while calling for passage of the Equality Act.

English developed an intense fear about what a second Trump administration would mean for “transgender” Americans. English wrote that he could not stand by while “Nazis kill my sisters.”

His fear hardened into hatred. Then English spent weeks planning the cold-blooded murders of people he had never met.

He took deliberate steps to hide what he was planning. English bought a paper road atlas with cash. He deliberately left his cell phone at home to avoid creating a digital trail. He concealed his appearance while making purchases. Then he drove hundreds of miles to Washington carrying a knife and homemade incendiary devices.

For roughly 75 minutes, surveillance showed him circling the Capitol, talking to an obituary and kissing it.

The Equality Act would give legitimacy to this deranged thinking. If H.R. 15 writes “gender identity” into civil rights law, anyone who speaks biological truth would be a target for a lawsuit.

The Equality Act would control employment, schools, housing, public accommodations (including online home businesses), federally funded programs, and more.

It would give the federal government enormous power to enforce those beliefs — even against people with deeply held religious convictions.

That is not equality. It is totalitarianism.

Words have consequences.

The Equality Act is not inevitable. We can stop it — but lawmakers must hear from Americans who will not surrender biological reality, religious freedom, and common sense to radical gender ideology.
